Sri Lankan Informatics Olympiad 2008 preliminary selections have started. You should register at the new web site (http://www.ioi.lk), and submit the solutions to the set of problems posted – you’ll get access to the problems once you have registered. Then there will be another screening test for those who do well.

The programming language availability has been changed this year:

  • Pascal is discontinued, whereas Java, C# and VB.net have been brought-in even though they are not available at International Olympiad in Informatics. (of course, C/C++ is there).
  • This year’s IOI will be held in Egypt, so if you’re interested in competing and winning medals (or winning a free trip to Egypt ;) ), complete the registration soon.

While browsing the internet after some heavy work, I found this great site which has so many programming problems. Although I have finished competing in IOI, I was curious enough to look around some of the problems. This site has more than one thousand problems of varying difficulty levels. I think this site will be very useful for those who start there work at SLIOI, so I thought of telling about it for those who haven’t seen it before.
